2010年，加州通過‘共同核心的課程標準’的教育方針，將采用全國统一的數學和語言教育，并致力提升學生的學習成效，為進入大學和職場做準備。新的標準強調批判性思考以及理解力。學生在課堂或在標準化測試中，將同時以口語和寫作應答。現有45個州推動共同核心的課程標準，其中新罕布希爾州所有學區的老師對於這個新的教育方針給予極大的好評。
