Based on the number of AP exams completed and the AP scores earned, there are different levels of AP Scholar awards given. The students’ scores usually need to be a 3 or higher. 若学生从目标学校来说，如果申请的目标学校是全美排名40名以后的学校，基本没有必要去修读和进行AP课程考试。全美前35名大学，全美前20名大学，及全美前10名的大学，AP课程的重要程度依次提高，而且越是前面的学校，录取学生的平均AP考试数量越高。 并不是说大学硬性要求大家考AP，而是这些高中的同学为了为自己的申请添加更多的砝码，主动考试并提供给学校的。 若同学能够有效管理时间，GPA维持的很好，TOEFL和SAT等考试都考得不错，课外活动也不少，仍旧有余力来兼顾其他的事情，可以考虑修读AP课程。GPA/TOEFL/SAT/SATII都没有到达目标学校的要求，AP课程及成绩也将对申请结果没有什么帮助。 大部分学校，AP课程是可以按大学学分算的，一门课程大学里面基本上都是3个学分，这意味着如果能够因为AP考试成绩转学分，可以省下每门课程上千美元的学费。而AP考试的考试费用却不到$100。所以：在美国读书的同学，11年级5月份和之前年级的AP考试，即对申请有帮助作用，又具备省钱功能，12年级5月份那次的AP考试，则只具备省钱功能。 需要注意的是，不一定所有的AP课程都能够满足你所要去读本科院校的转学分要求，12年级时候，最好先研究清楚你所要去就读学校的本科毕业要求，然后有效地进行选择。 国内高中的同学，如果从省钱的角度来讲，有条件的话，则可以在高三上完成考试和申请之后，选择参加自己感兴趣的AP课程，5月份的时候，到香港进行AP课程的相关考试。 每一个遇到是否需要AP考试的学生，都要认真考察，做好计划。 选课或考试需要帮助，请联络名门教育。

两种众所周知的美国大学预备课程分别是Advanced Placement(AP)以及International Baccalaureate(IB)。在这两种热门考试中该如何选择呢？怎么才能确保它们达到你预期的目标呢？ 表面上，IB和AP课程看起来差不多，有很多相同的课程(美国及世界历史，微积分，物理，外语等等)，但是理念上来讲他们却很不一样。 International Baccalaureate(IB)为美国高等教育做准备，课程更为全面。此课程不但能拓展学生的学术能力，同时也拓宽了学生的自我认知、跨文化交际以及对周围世界的批判性思考能力。这些技能及感知能力，对于学生能顺利转换到美国高等教育及生活尤为重要。 IB课程同时也要求学生发展及完成原创研究(以IB扩展性论文的形式)。这是一种模拟大学的学术模式，更可以作为一项重要成果，让学生在申请大学时可以更具竞争力。IB让CAS(社会，活动，服务)成为文凭中的一部份，使得学生需要融入社会，这些也可以成为打动美国好大学招生官的必要的活动和经历。 Advanced Placement(AP)参考美国大学课程，因此相比而言，AP课程则更为直接了当。课程参考大学课堂的速度及模式。而且大部分美国大学都接受AP考试的高分，并可以转为大学学分，使学生真正入读该大学后可以直接去上别的高程度课程。 AP最后不会给任何文凭，参加多少门AP课程也是由学生自行决定，学生也可以不参加AP课程而直接考试。 很多IB的学生选择直接去参加和他们IB课程相同的AP考试，也都能够获得很不错的成绩。对于大多数学生来说，零散的AP模式更适合他们的个性或紧张的作息。 若您欲了解更多关于AP及IB，或是考试准备帮助，请联系名门教育。
从5月6日開始，為期兩周的AP考試對於很多十年級和十一年級的學生就是本年度的一件大事。 AP課程，即大學先修課程，目前共有34門，通常是給學業成績優秀的學生提供的課程，與榮譽課程（honor）一樣，都是相對與普通的大學預備課程（CP）相對而言的， 榮譽課程與AP課程的難度與深度都要大很多，因而有加分。在加權GPA的計算時，加分的課程就顯現很多優勢。 AP課程考試考察學生在AP課程所學。據大學委員會的統計，在2012年5月份全球有來自超過18000所學校的200萬學生參加AP考試。 AP考試最重要的意義莫過於向大學證明了該名學生成功就讀大學的指標，因為這些課程實際上就是大學課程，如果能獲得3分以上的成績，就代表通過，4分或5分代表良好或優秀。 AP課程考試還是獲得AP學者榮譽（許多等級）的基礎，例如，如果參加三門以上AP并獲得3分以上的成績，就可獲得“AP學者”榮譽。 當然，這對大學申請意義也很重大，尤其是名校，比較重視中學生課程的嚴格程度和難度。同時AP課程還能幫你省錢，因為這些課程可以折算成大學學分，大學階段就可以免修了。
