Biology/AP Biology

General Description

This class will introduce students to the major concepts they will be exposed to in Biology/AP biology and prepare them for success in the course and on the exam.

AP biology classes are designed to be the equivalent of a three quarter college course in introductory biology. The labs and textbooks used in the classes are equivalent to those used in the University setting.

The course is designed to provide students with a foundation of factual knowledge and the analytical skills to ask questions and design experiments to find answers in the changing field of biology.  The course covers three general areas: Molecules and Cells; Heredity and Evolution: and Organisms and Populations.

Typically students begin to take Biology in 9th grade and to take AP biology after the completion of one year of high school biology, and one of high school chemistry.
