SAT Prep

Students will receive more than 60 hours of SAT instruction and will take 4 full-length practice tests to provide them with test-taking simulations that close to the actual SAT. The classroom portion of the course will be supplemented by detailed homework assignments that will benefit students long after they have completed the instructional meetings. Each student will receive lesson books, practice exams, and vocabulary flashcards. At the end of the training, students will have also completed planning and registration for their next SAT test.

College Essay Writing

Expert writing mentors will teach students the fundamentals of college essay writing and guide them through the writing process. Through 20 hours of writing instruction, students will learn to express self-awareness, creativity, and intellectual curiosity that will make them attractive candidates to the most selective colleges. Students will learn how to select a topic, develop ideas, edit for content and style, and avoid common pitfalls that weaken an applicant’s chances of admission. By the end of the program, students will have finished 3 different personal statement essays that are ready to submit with their college applications.

College Counseling

Students will each meet with Berkeley-certified college admissions counselors and receive advice, assessments and insight on 6 modules of college admissions. Over a period of 20 hours of guidance, counselors will discuss career planning, college choices,  and the college application process with each student. At the end of the counseling, students will receive a report of college admissions which includes a list of colleges for consideration from counselors, and will know how to handle the applications with hands-on experience.

Comments from our students:

“The SAT Classes were constructive and yet fun as well to keep our focus/attention. The tutors made sure to meet our individual needs which are rare to come by.”         ~Sam W.

“I was accepted by UC Berkeley , UC Davis, UC Irvine and USC for public health or nursing program respectively. I am happy about the result and thanks for IvyBoost’s great help on my college application.”          ~Cherry L.

“It is amazing that I improved my SAT writing from 680 to 800 and reading from 700 to 760 with IvyBoost in only one month. Thank you so much, Karen.”                    ~ Karthik K.

“It is an unforgettable life time experience to work with IvyBoost and my mentor Tony. As first generation immigrants, my parents and I really do not know about college and financial aid applications. My mentor Tony has been very patient and well prepared to guide me on the applications step by step. His response is always immediate whenever I have questions. The more touching part is that he consulted like an old-time friend or a family member with the most sincere and practical advices. He has been always supportive and continues to help me even after the contracted service is done. IvyBoost’s counseling is just like a lighthouse to guide me to the right port – I get in my favorite UC with $21000 grant and $10000 loans.”            ~Brenda W.
